1st Cut is an international online, offline and graphics facility founded in 1996 by Jon Lomas and John Wabe.
Recognising that there was a non-linear revolution occurring in post production, they set up with one Avid Offline and a great list of contacts. Wendy Broadhurst joined them a couple of years later and Sophie Marfleet is the latest addition to the team.
The company has steadily grown and in 1998 we moved to St Pauls Road.
We now run a number of broadcast specification Avids, including the first uncompressed Symphony system outside London.
We are able to handle source material from a wide variety of formats including Digi Beta, SP, SX, DV CAM, DV PRO, HD and material generated on disk by graphics programmes such as Photoshop and 3D Studio.
Between us we have 35 years experience in broadcast post production. 1st Cut has always been at the forefront of non-linear editing in Bristol. The company was the first in Bristol to offer Avid non-linear broadcast quality online. Our knowledge of the products has led to a very close relationship with the research and development department of Avid, as we feed back issues, solutions and wish-lists for future versions of their products.
